While surfing the net this weekend, I followed a trail of bread crumbs from one article to another pertaining to SEO (search engine optimization). I ended up landing on an article about a potential 'sandbox' at Google.
The general theory suggests that Google puts new web sites into a holding state, or 'sandbox' for an undetermined amount of time before releasing it back onto it's (Google's) search engine index. Google does this to validate the site as legitimate versus a site created for temporary purposes because there are those that whip together sites who's only goal is to create junk key word or domain sites and then try and profit from searches and pay-per-click charges, among other things.
I always stress to clients that a site showing up in search engine results is a combination of title and meta tags, organic content, quality link-backs and time. It would seem Google has added a little more time to the equation.
